Midea Group awarded RMB 7.5 million (about US$ 1.03 million) to the outstanding scientific and technical personnel of the company at the end of 2007.

In order to strengthen the R&D capacity of the company, Midea Group has held such activities for 12 consecutive years since 1996. GD Midea Air-Conditioning Equipment Co., Ltd. won quite a few prizes in this year’s activity. The ‘P series AC’, ‘Sine wave vector control DC inverter technology’, and ‘Air-conditioning and water heater 2 in 1 energy-saving heat pump technology’ developed by the Midea Air-conditioning were among the Top 10 outstanding projects. Tianjing Star series wall-mounted AC won the Innovation Design Prize. Two employees of the company were awarded Ten Scientific and Technical Stars. GD Midea Air-Conditioning Equipment Co., Ltd. also won some other important prizes such as Scientific and Technical Innovation Prize.

Senior officers from Midea Group expressed that the goal of award the outstanding scientific and technical personnel and the R&D projects is to encourage innovations within the group, which are very important to the company’s effort to become a Top 500 worldwide company.
